Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin will be our inland lake classroom location. April - October. Join us for our Introduction to Kayak class as we follow American Canoe Association and British Canoe Union curriculum. All kayaks and gear provided. We will practice strokes and maneuvers, launching and landing, wet exits and deep water rescues, we'll talk about safety, hazards, wind, waves and weather. We'll go over equipment, boat fit, boat parts and more. Class is from 9-3 on weekends. Cost is $100.00 per person.




Join us for a full day of paddling on big water as we follow American Canoe Association and British Canoe Union curriculum. This 7 hour course is focused on helping the student learn to travel safely and efficiently by kayak of the type designated as a sea kayak with bulkheads or floatation. There is more emphasis on self-rescue and assisted-rescue techniques and the stability strokes are introduced. Also, Rules of the Navigable Road, tides and currents, wind and waves, emergency equipment, use of VHF radios and weather radios, understanding charts and basic use of a compass are covered. Graduates should be capable of paddling up to a half-mile off shore with mild conditions such as light and variable winds, up to one foot of wind chop, and current speeds up to one knot. This course will take place on Lake Michigan at Simmons Island Beach in Kenosha, Wisconsin next to the U.S. Coast Guard Station. Time: 9:00 to 4:00 Cost: $125.00 per person. Pre-requisite is Intro to Kayak or similar class or experience.
